His father associated him in the government of Naples, and he succeeded his father in 865 as GREGORIUS III Duke of Naples. The Chronicon Ducum…Neapolis records that "Gregorius" succeeded Duke Sergius (without specifying the relationship between the two) "22 anno 12 ind" and ruled 5 years and 7 months[1854]. m ---.
